GANGTOK:

37-year old archer from Sikkim, Tarundeep Rai, is all set to represent India at the Tokyo Olympics this year.

Rai is the sole sportsmen from the state to represent Sikkim at the international event, and is a great prospect for India in sports like Archery.

The Olympian has already represented India at the 2004 Athens Olympics and 2012 London Olympics, but failed to clinch a medal at both events.

Rai won a Bronze at the 15th Asian Games in Doha followed by a Silver at the 16th Asian Games in Guangzhou, China.

Besides Rai, Atanu Das and Pravin Jadhav are other archers who will represent India at the prestigious sporting event.

Earlier, Sikkim Minister for Sports and Youth Affairs, Kumga Nima Lepcha congratulated Rai on his selection and wished him all success for the event.
