Nepali movie “Jaar” to be shot in Sikkim

GANGTOK:

The cast and crew of the Nepali movie “Jaar” arrived in Gangtok on Friday, after the tourism department allowed resumption of shooting activities.

The movie made under the banner of Ferry Tale Productions is directed by Phurba Tshering Lama and stars Sikkim actress Gitanjali Thapa, the first person from the state to win a national award for best actress.

The film also has Nepali superstar Saugat Malla.

“The movie is a period drama based on Nepali writer Indra Bahadur Rai’s story,” said the director.

The cast also informed about the supernatural elements in the movie with themes replete with the Himalayan touch of Sikkim.

Puja Sharma, Chairperson, Sikkim Film Promotion Board while welcoming the visiting cast and crew of the movie wished the team luck.

She also extended all support to the crew for their shoot in Sikkim.

Welcoming the actors, Tshering Wangchuk Lepcha, Additional Political Secretary to Chief Minister said, "the movie will help in promoting tourism in the Himalayan state."

The shooting of the movie will begin from March 25 and is expected to be released during Diwali this year.
