Four-day Homestay Congress Okhrey 2021 workshop begins in Sikkim

 The workshop will also include training for the Homestay hosts by Air BnB, Booking.com, Make My Trip and several other renowned financial bodies like NABARD.

 GANGTOK: 

A four-day workshop titled 'Homestay Congress Okhrey 2021', organised by the Homestay Association of Sikkim, in collaboration with the State's Department of Tourism and Civil Aviation kicked started at Okhrey Village in West Sikkim on Monday.

The workshop aims to enable homestay hosts from across Sikkim to learn more about the process of setting up homestays, skills to cater to guests and enriching their experience and, the importance of simplifying the process for guests to apply for a travel card before entering the state. 

The first day witnessed a talk by General Secretary of HAS North Sikkimese, Gyatso Lepcha who highlighted the importance of sustainable tourism. 

Lepcha underlined the fact that sustainability in tourism comprises long-term infrastructure coupled with hospitality. 

The workshop will also include training for the Homestay hosts by Air BnB, Booking.com, Make My Trip and several other renowned financial bodies like NABARD.
