Third Edition of Nagaland Film Festival begins in Kohima

Nagaland chief secretary J Alam graced the inaugural programme as the special guest, and highlighted the importance of regional films in regards to the Northeast.

The much-awaited third Hornbill Edition Nagaland Film Festival kicked off at Capital Convention Center, Kohima with the screening of four films - Angh, An Engineered Dream, Bethlehem, and Look at the Sky, on December 3.

Organised by the Nagaland Information and Public Relations Department in collaboration with the Film Association of Nagaland and the National Film Development Corporation, the inaugural day of the festival witnessed sessions by experts and results of the online film competition.

Nagaland chief secretary J Alam graced the inaugural programme as the special guest, and highlighted the importance of regional films in regards to the Northeast.

Speaking at the occasion, Alam said the information and public relations department, the nodal department for films in the state, is working towards framing the Nagaland Film Policy to facilitate the local artistes as well as the filmmakers coming to Nagaland.

He noted that the films made by the Naga filmmakers have been creating an impact not only at the national level, but also in the international scenario. 

The first day of the programme saw a workshop on scriptwriting conducted by Munish Bhardwaj, and Alexander Pou presenting Masterclass on Film Tourism.

Besides the screening and the sessions, the winners of the online film competition were also felicitated during the festival.

While, Tiakumzuk Pongener bagged the first prize for Abnoral, Cimematixx was awarded the second prize for The Dancing Philosopher. The third prize was jointly won by Kupe-ü Krome for The Bright Side and Rehti Thonger for Forever & Always.

Meanwhile, President of Nagaland Film Association, Kivini Shoh, argued that filmmaking is at a very nascent stage and filmmakers in the region have to hone their skills to become better cinematographers, directors, writers, and actors.
