Naga Political Issue: NPF set to ally with ruling People’s Democratic Alliance

In a major political development from Nagaland, the Opposition Naga People’s Front (NPF) is contemplating of joining the ruling People’s Democratic Alliance (PDA), reportedly in a bid to resolve the decades-long Naga Political Isssue once and for all. 

While Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphu Rio welcomed the NPF move, NPF leader and former CM TR Zeliang said the final decision will be taken after a meeting with all stakeholders of the Talks. 

According to sources, 25 NPF legislators are all set to join the Rio-led PDA.

According to NELive, Rio said, "It is public pressure coming from all corners and the decision was of the NPF because the BJP and NPF has an alliance in Manipur, (and) NDPP is in alliance with BJP in Nagaland."

"Under the directive of Union Home Minister Amit Shah, opposition leader (Zeliang) and myself were ask to a give joint statement on the Naga political issue; through the outcome of the statement, we formed a parliamentary committee then a core group pleading for unity and coming together to resolve the Naga issue," NELive quoted Rio.

While Leader of opposition TR Zeliang said, "After the discussion, we will come to know more and we are yet to discuss."
