Nagaland's tourism director Ajanuo Belho bags Japanese Foreign Minister award 2021

Nagaland Tourism director, Ajanuo Belho was awarded the Japanese Foreign Minister's Commendations 2021 for the "promotion of mutual understanding between Japan and India", a press release by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan said on Friday.

Belho is among 177 individuals and 41 groups across the globe to receive the award this year. She is also one of the only two Indians recognised by the ministry.

According to a statement by the ministry, the award recipients will be presented with an award certificate and individuals will receive a commemorative gift.

In view of COVID-19, the ceremony which normally takes place each year will not be held this year, the statement read.

The Commendations are awarded to individuals and groups with outstanding achievements in international fields, in order to acknowledge their contributions to the promotion of friendship between Japan and other countries and areas. It also aims to promote the understanding and support of the Japanese public for the activities of the recipients.
