Nagaland: Zeliangrong Students' Union holds candlelight vigil to honour Lamhainamdi shooting victims 

Zeliangrong Baudi Nagaland and Zeliang People Organisation had submitted a charter of demand to Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio, demanding the police to establish the identity of the miscreants and take necessary action within ten days, with effect from March 31.

The Zeliangrong Students' Union - Kohima, on March 31, organised a candlelight vigil to honour the three victims, who were killed by unknown assailants on March 22 at Lamhainamdi Village in Peren district of Nagaland.

Zeliangrong Baudi Nagaland and Zeliang People Organisation had submitted a charter of demand to Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio, demanding the police to establish the identity of the miscreants and take necessary action within ten days, with effect from March 31.

“A week has gone by since our three brothers were butchered like animals in our own land and, except for the formation of a Special Investigation Team (SIT), no concrete action has been taken by the State government,” read the memorandum. 

President of the Zeliangrong Baudi, Kohima, Dr Hiabe Zeliang has urged the citizens to condemn this "gun culture". He also urged the law enforcement agency to book the culprits and award benefiting punishment at the earliest.

Others who also spoke at the candlelight event included the President of Angami Public Organisation, Dr Kepelhusie Terhüja; the President of Tenyimi People’s Organisation, Timikha Koza; and the President of Lotha Hoho Kohima.
