Nagaland: Major General Vikas Lakhera appointed IGAR (N) of Assam Rifles

Maj Gen Lakhera is a postgraduate from Defence Services Staff College, Wellington. He was commissioned into the Sikh Regiment on June 9, 1990.

Major General Vikas Lakhera has been appointed as the 20th Inspector General of Assam Rifles (IGAR) (North), an Assam Rifles release said on January 6. He took charge from Maj Gen VPS Kaushik.

Maj Gen Lakhera is a postgraduate from Defence Services Staff College, Wellington. He was commissioned into the Sikh LI Regiment on June 9, 1990.

The release said Maj Gen Lakhera has immense operational experience in planning and conduct of counter-terrorist operations in Jammu & Kashmir and Assam, besides a tenure prior to the ceasefire in Nagaland. He was awarded Sena Medal, Chief of Army Staff Commendation Card, and two GOC-in-C commendation cards.
