Nagaland Guv holds consultative meeting with Church leaders on COVID-19

The Governor said that the Church leaders have moral and spiritual authority and influence over the people and therefore urged them to use their moral and spiritual capital to save our people from the pandemic.

Governor of Nagaland, R.N. Ravi held an interaction cum consultative meeting with the Church leaders of various Christian denominations of Nagaland on the COVID-19 pandemic at Dr Imkongliba Hall, Raj Bhavan Kohima on April 19.

The Governor said that the Church leaders have moral and spiritual authority and influence over the people and therefore urged them to use their moral and spiritual capital to save our people from the pandemic. 

He advised the Church leaders to make the people more conscious of the COVID-19 challenges and the need for strictly adhering to the COVID-19 appropriate behaviours.

The Governor also expressed concern over the inhibitions of our people to go for vaccination and the prevalence of adverse rumours. 

He advised the Church leaders to educate and encourage the eligible persons to go for the vaccination as the current ratio of vaccination in the State is one of the lowest in the country.

In this extraordinary situation where the entire society is facing stress because of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Governor reminded the Church of their significant role.  

Governor Ravi thanked the Church leaders for their valuable suggestions, which will be forwarded to the Government for follow-up.
