Nagaland Dy CM visits injured victims of Oting firing in hospital

KOHIMA:

Nagaland deputy chief minister,, Y Patton visited the six injured victims of the December 4 firing incident in Mon district who are admitted at Christian Institute of Health Sciences and Research (CISHR) and Faith Hospital in Dimapur on December 8

Consoling the injured and their family members, Patton wished the speedy recovery of the injured and also extended financial assistance to them.

"You are undergoing tumultuous pain and sufferings for no fault of yours, and it pains my heart," Patton told the victims.

The injured victims admitted to CISHR are Phojem Konyak (35), M Tingtei (31), Atem (29), Manglei ( 47) and 11 Indian Reserve Battalion jawan Baujoi Phom (38) while Temjun Konyak (41) is admitted to Faith Hospital.

Patton was accompanied by Dimapur commissioner of police Rothihu Tetseo.

NSF protest

The Naga Students Federation, as part of the five-day mourning for the victims of Oting firing by security forces and in furtherance of the directive issued by the North East Students’ Organisation for repeal of AFSPA from all the northeastern states, will organise a peaceful protest in Kohima on December 9. It appealed to the Naga people to extend their solidarity to the victims by turning up in large numbers for the protest.

Meanwhile, Mon deputy commissioner, Thavaseelan, in an order issued on December 8, said the imposition of prohibitory order under Section 144 CrPC in Mon town will continue to remain in force only from 8 pm to 4 am.

The order said gathering of more than five persons in public places and all vehicular movement of non-essential nature stand prohibited during the period.
