Kohima police issues traffic advisory for Hornbill Festival

Mitigating traffic congestion is necessary from December 1-10, says Kohima police.

To ensure smooth flow of traffic during the Hornbill Festival that begins from December 1, a traffic advisory has been issued by the Kohima police on November 29.

The Kohima police, in a press release, has stated that no heavy vehicles will be allowed to enter the Kohima municipal area from 7 am till 10 pm from December 1 to 10 - the days when the festival will be on at Kisama (Kohima, Nagaland), a Naga heritage village.

To mitigate traffic congestion, all heavy vehicles will be stopped at Chaprü Peducha, Jotsoma Bypass and Khuzama Police Check Gate.

To facilitate the Kohima Night Carnival, the road stretch from Y-junction Phoolbari to Razhü Point will be restricted for vehicular traffic from 3 pm to 10 pm on the said dates.

The advisory contains regulations (including commercial vehicles) related to the entry and parking of cars during the event along with the routes for commuters travelling between Kohima and Kisama, and for those moving within Kohima.

The Kohima police sought the cooperation of everyone to ensure a smooth Hornbill Festival.
