AIZAWL:

The Northeast Dialogue Forum has lauded the Mizo Zirlai Pawl (MZP) for organising a state-wide candlelight light vigil to express solidarity and sympathy for the people who lost their lives in the anti-coup protests in Myanmar.

The MZP organised the vigil on March 16 at Vanapa Hall in Aizawl, Mizoram.

The organisation denounced the ongoing violence against peaceful protesters and the violation of human rights in Myanmar.

Last month, the MZP staged a sit-in demonstration near Vanapa Hall in Aizawl.

"We share the sufferings and joy of our Mizo brothers and sisters in Myanmar. We will always stand for them," Mizo Zirlai Pawl vice president Peter Chhangte had said.

The organisation will also organise a mobile concert at various places to raise funds for Myanmar refugees on Saturday.

"We would earnestly request and urge all civil society organisations (CSOs), student organisations, and all who believe in democratic and non-violent principles to express solidarity with the citizens of Myanmar who are facing the brunt of the subversion of democracy, and who stand for justice, peace, tranquillity and equality, to take forward what the MZP has done," the Northeast Dialogue Forum said.
