AIZAWL:

Mizoram’s BJP unit on Monday urged Chief Minister Zoramthanga to resolve the state's boundary disputes with neighbouring Assam and Tripura and, to take the opportunity to do so especially when the BJP is in power at the centre, in Assam and in Tripura.

Mizo National Front (MNF), headed by Zoramthanga, is a part of the BJP-led North East Democratic Alliance (NEDA).

Mizoram shares about 164.6 km long inter-state boundary with Assam and about 66 km with Tripura, where various border disputes have persisted for nearly three decades now.

Earlier, Union Home Minister Amit Shah had also instructed all the northeastern states on at least two occasions to resolve inter-state border disputes through bilateral dialogue. This was followed by the Mizoram Presbyterian Church, the largest denomination in the state, urging CM Zoramthanga to resolve border disputes.
