AIZAWL:

The Mizo Students’ Union has written to the Deputy Commissioner of Aizawl to cancel the tribal certificate issued to one Kamrul Islam Laskar, a businessman hailing from Assam, veiling himself under the name of a Mizo tribal.

In the letter to the DC, the union stated that the businessman was issued the certificate under the adopted name of Kamlova Chhangte by the DC of Aizawl district’s judicial branch on June 27, 2018.

"This person, who goes by his adopted name Kamlova Chhangte, s/o Thangchhuana Chhangte, a resident of Ṭhuampui, Aizawl cannot be accepted as a Mizo as per Mizo Customary Law (Mizoram Gazette Extra Ordinary No.XXXIV)," the MSU said in a statement.
