Assam Rifles arrest drug peddler in Mizoram


AIZAWL: The Assam Rifles troops of Mizoram apprehended a drug peddler and recovered heroin from his possession in General Area Zokhawthar on January 15.

According to the Excise & Narcotics Department, Zokhawthar, the individual was apprehended with 101.3 grams of heroin stuffed in eight soap cases.

The recovered consignment is said to be worth Rs 40,52,000.

"Ongoing smuggling of drugs is a major cause of concern for the state of Mizoram, especially along the India-Myanmar border," stated Assam Rifles in a press release.
