Assam-Mizoram border row: Mizoram police register FIR against CM Himanta, six state officials

Chief minister Sarma and the other state officials have been directed to appear in the police station on August 1.

An FIR (First Information Report) has been registered by Mizoram Police against Assam chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma and four police officers and two bureaucrats on charges of attempt to murder and assault in connection to the Assam-Mizoram border conflict on July 26.

The case was filed at Vairengte police station in the Kolasib district of Mizoram.

According to media reports, in the FIR, the Mizoram Police have accused "200 fully armed" Assam Police personnel of trying to "forcefully occupy" their police camp.

Sarma and the officials have been charged with an attempt to murder, concealing design to commit an offence, grievous hurt, assault, and using criminal force against public servants.

Chief minister Sarma and the other state officials have been directed to appear in the police station on August 1.
