Work under Meghalaya Integrated Transport Project to be completed by December 2022: Prestone Tynsong

He informed that under the World Bank-funded project, there are 10 important road developmental plans - five each in Khasi-Jaintia Hills and Garo Hills (covering 262.4 km), and two bridges.

Deputy Chief Minister in-charge PWD (Roads) Prestone Tynsong, on December 14, said that all the work under the Meghalaya Integrated Transport Project (MITP) will be completed by December 2022.

“The progress of the work is very satisfactory and we would be able to complete them by December 2022,” he said, after attending a review meeting on the progress of the works under the Rs 554 crore project.

Tynsong said that, in the meeting, he discussed the problems and challenges faced by the different contractors working in the projects, which include acquiring environment and forest clearances.

"Therefore, I will call for a meeting with the concerned department again to speed up the issuing of the NOCs and whatever that are required," he added.

The review meeting was also attended by Commissioner and Secretary in-charge of Finance, Vijay Kumar, officials from the PWD, and contractors working on the projects.
