NONGPOH:

The Ri Bhoi District Administration along with the Health Department has witnessed the rise in footfall of youths and elders to receive their gap of Covishield vaccine.

According to reports, the district administration with the health department has been striving hard to sensitise the public on the importance of the vaccine in the fight against COVID-19.

Speaking to Ri Bhoi Deputy Commissioner, RM Kurbah informed that the vaccination drive has been on full swing and the number of people especially in the age bracket of 18-44 years has been increasing.

Kurbah added though the district in the past few months had to meet the damages on the doses which is to vaccinate every ten persons per vial, but during the trend it is noticed that the young population are coming to get themselves vaccinated therefore, the rate of the vial damages are reported to be low.

However, the Deputy Commissioner has expressed grave concern over issues that might lead to the spread of COVID-19 in the district underlining that most of the high-risk contacts are not adhering to COVID appropriate behaviour.
