Meghalaya: Vaccination drive picks up momentum in Ri-Bhoi district

The Dorbar Shnong of Mawdiangum village in Nongpoh also encouraged its residents to get themselves vaccinated.

Residents of Ri-Bhoi district thronged the Indoor Stadium, Nongpoh on Friday to get themselves vaccinated amid the ongoing fight against COVID-19.

The Office of the District Medical and Health Officer, Nongpoh, organised the vaccination drive as a target to achieve the compulsory vaccination as a preventive measure to stop the spread of COVID-19.

It may be mentioned that the locals from Ri Bhoi district were witnessed standing in a long queue, waiting for their turn to get vaccinated.

Niorist Thabah from Umjarasi village, Sudhakar Gaur and Ankit Agarwal, who are locals, expressed their happiness that they are self-protected and also encouraged others to come forward to fight against this invisible enemy.

The Dorbar Shnong of Mawdiangum village in Nongpoh also encouraged its residents to get themselves vaccinated, in which a sizeable population thronged the village durbar to get the vaccination.

During the vaccination programme, a small interpretation programme was held to clarify on the importance of the COVISHIELD vaccine and the side effects associated with it. 

The programme was attended by RM Kurbah, Deputy Commissioner, Dr M Mawrie, DM&HO among others.
