Three-day Border Co-ordination Conference between BSF, BGB, begins in Shillong

Held bi-annually, the conference is aimed at thwarting cattle, drugs, and fake Indian currency notes (FICN) smuggling, and on matters related to peace and security, among other issues, along the borders between India and Bangladesh.

SHILLONG:

The Inspector General (IG) level three-day Border Co-ordination Conference between Border Security Force (BSF) and Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) started here at the BSF campus in Umpling, on November 27.

Held bi-annually, the conference is aimed at thwarting cattle, drugs, and fake Indian currency notes (FICN) smuggling, and on matters related to peace and security, among other issues, along the borders between India and Bangladesh.

A senior officer of the BSF Meghalaya Frontier, which is hosting the conference, welcomed the 10-member delegation of BGB led by additional director-general and region commander of South-East Region, Chattogram, Bangladesh, Tanveer Gani Chowdhury

The BSF delegation, led by Susanta Kumar Nath, IG, Tripura frontier comprised of BSF officials from Meghalaya, Guwahati, Silchar and Tripura frontier.

Officials from the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA), Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) and Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) are also part of the conference. 

The conference will conclude on November 29.
