Meghalaya: This village in Ri-Bhoi comes in aid of residents affected by COVID

Local MDC Charles Marngar visited Rtiang village and lauded the initiative to unite under one umbrella.

A village in Ri Bhoi District has set an example to support their own residents who were infected with COVID-19 and their contacts who were under quarantine by providing essential needs.

Rtiang village in Ri Bhoi District came to the aid of those infected with COVID-19 including their high risk and primary contacts who had to undergo home isolation.

The village has the most number of positive cases and being under Containment Zone, the Dorbar Shnong of Rtiang in coordination with the residents and the COVID-19 Management Committee took upon themselves to contribute to the needs of the affected individuals.

Banlum Lyngdoh, a village representative, said, “The village authority in compliance with the protocols laid by the state government in line with the Health Department in containing the spread of the disease has led from the front to meet the needs of those affected in the villages.

He also added, the Dorbar Shnong is very much happy to witness coordination of all the residents to contribute either in cash or in kind.

It may be noted, local MDC Charles Marngar visited Rtiang village and lauded the initiative to unite under one umbrella.
