SHILLONG:

Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma said that the government has received no positive results regarding the missing persons in a coal mine in Sutnga.

“We have asked the administration and other agencies including the NDRF to also pitch in but the conditions are very difficult out there. They are trying their best but we have not come out with any positive results as of now,” he told reporters on Wednesday.

It may be noted that five workers were trapped in a coal mine in East Jaintia Hills on the night of May 30, 2021.

The Meghalaya Human Rights Commission (MHRC) recently registered a case filed by Yeahyea Hussain, the neighbour of the Miner trapped in Umpleng, East Jaintia Hills.

According to the complainant, the families of the miners have also been denied to visit the incident spot.

The Commission has issued notice to the Chief Secretary, Government of Meghalaya, to submit a detailed report to the Commission within 10 (days).
