Senior doctor dies due to COVID in Meghalaya

SHILLONG: 

A 70-year-old senior radiologist, Dr Sanjay Kumar Barman, succumbed to the Coronavirus on Tuesday at North Eastern Indira Gandhi Regional Institute of Health and Medical Science (NEIGRIHMS) in Shillong.

A resident of Laitumkhrah, Dr Sanjay Kumar Barman completed his Diploma in Medical Radio Diagnosis (DMRD) from Dibrugarh Medical College in 1999 and joined the radiology department at Civil Hospital with Dr B Pyrbot. 

Dr Barman completed his MBBS from Guwahati Medical College in 1980 and completed a short-term training in CT from AIIMS, New Delhi, in 2006.  

Soon after his retirement from state government service, he worked at Ramakrishna Mission Clinic, Shillong for sometime and then worked for about 10 years in Guwahati. 

Dr Barman is survived by his wife and two sons.
