Meghalaya: Ri-Bhoi district to implement “odd-even” system for private vehicles

However, on Saturday and Sunday there will be a weekend lockdown with no vehicles which will be allowed to ply on the road.

The District Magistrate, Ri Bhoi District has issued specific arrangements for the movement of Public Transport Vehicles within Ri-Bhoi District.

Wherein in the 1st week and the 3rd week of the month, vehicles ending with Odd Number 1, 3, 5, 7 & 9 will ply on the road on Monday, Wednesday and Friday whereas on the 2nd and 4th week of the month, vehicle numbers ending with Even Number 0, 2, 4, 6 & 8 will ply on the road on Monday, Wednesday and Friday.

However, on Saturday and Sunday there will be a weekend lockdown with no vehicles which will be allowed to ply on the road.

Moreover, the maximum number of passengers carried by different public transports shall be one-fourth of the capacity. Drivers and passengers are directed to wear masks, maintain social distancing, to use hand sanitizer and to follow all other protocols.

Deputy Commissioner, Ri Bhoi District has also informed that in view of the surging cases and deaths due to COVID-19 in the District as well as in the State, additional support from all stakeholders and especially the health professionals for citizens is the need of the hour.
