SHILLONG:

The Regional Democratic Alliance (RDA), an alliance of United Democratic Party (UDP) and Hill State People's Democratic Party (HSPDP), started its campaign for bye-elections in Mawphlang and Rajabala on October 19.

After a meeting held on October 18 to discuss the campaign strategy for the bye-elections, RDA secretary Renikton Lyngdoh Tongkhar said, "We will be supporting UDP candidate Eugeneson Lyngdoh from Mawphlang constituency. We have also discussed the Rajabala seat and we have agreed to support UDP candidate Ashahel D.Shira there," Tongkhar said.

Deliberating on Mawryngkneng, Tongkhar said that they would like to see the National People’s Party-Meghalaya Democratic Alliance (MDA), win from the seat.

"We have not made any official decision on Mawryngkneng because UDP has no candidate there. But we would like to see our ally Meghalaya Democratic Alliance (MDA) win the election," he said.
