NONGPOH:

The Ri Bhoi Students Union (RBSU) has complained about the plight meted by the local farmers who are affected because of the lockdown and has called the attention of the state government to identify wholesale markets in identified locations.

Speaking to mediapersons, Amberlight Masharing, RBSU Working President, said, “The union is very sad and concerned to witness the plight being faced by the local farmers of the district during the crisis of COVID-19, since the state government has enforced lockdown, the farmers cannot even reach their daily vendors because of the unavailability of certain passes.”

The RBSU has appealed to the state government and the district administration of Ri Bhoi to take measures to meet the grievances of the local farmers and to identify any wholesale markets around Bhoirymbong areas, Nongpoh, Mawhati and Byrnihat.
