SHILLONG:

The Rangsakona constituency unit of the Congress witnessed another jolt on December 17 as all the members of the Block Congress Committee (BCC) defected to the All India Trinamool Congress (AITC).

Addressing media persons at Domni Gaon Community Hall, ex-president of BCC, Nikolson T Sangma said, "The appointment of ad-hoc committee and side-lining the already existing block committee by Meghalaya Pradesh Congress (MPC) makes it clear that the MPC high command does not trust us. So, it is in our best interest that we join our leader Mukul Sangma and the national party AITC for better future of our block and Meghalaya."

Speaking on AITC, Nikolson said that the party has a bright future and a strong leader, Mamata Banerjee. "So, without wasting any time, it is the right time to say ‘bye bye’ to Congress and join hands with AITC for a better future,” he said.
