NIT Meghalaya assures support to state govt in implementation of NEP 2020

A statement from NIT, Meghalaya issued on Wednesday, stated that the institute has already explored all the relevant policies mentioned in the NEP-2020 for comprehensive advancement of school education in the state.

The Director of the National Institute of Technology (NIT), Meghalaya, Prof. BB Biswal, has assured to support the state government for a successful implementation of the New Education Policy (NEP) 2020 in school education.

A statement from NIT, Meghalaya issued on Wednesday, stated that the institute has already explored all the relevant policies mentioned in the NEP-2020 for comprehensive advancement of school education in the state.

He underlined the need to start implementing the policy immediately for the rapid growth of faculty members and students.

To mark the implementation of the New Education Policy 2020, NIT Meghalaya had conducted a webinar from August 9 - 11, 2021 for its faculty members, staff and students.

"The purpose of the event was to make everyone associated with the institute aware of the basics of NEP, its procedures and probable policies to be adopted for successful imposition in the institute," read the release.

Speakers from renowned academic institutes including Prof. NC Shivaprakash of IISc Bangalore, Prof. T Sitharam, Director of IIT Guwahati, and Prof. S.K.Sarangi, the Former Director of NIT Raurkela, shared their ideas during the event.

The speakers highlighted the main feature of NEP which is self-reliance, forms of future technologies which are making waves in today’s world, major reforms in higher education, technological advancements and integration in the education sector, and commercialisation of education, among others.
