Need true patriot for a separate Garoland, says GSMC

SHILLONG:
The Garoland State Movement Committee (GSMC) spokesperson Ryan Ch Marak said there is a need of a true patriot from among the political leaders for pursuing the demand for a separate Garoland.
“The Garos of Garoland need to be governed and developed by its own people,” said Marak, in a statement issued on October 19. Referring to the different regions of Garoland (Achik Asong), he stressed that the Garos today are facing a number of hardships because of not getting a separate state.
Stating that the demand for Garoland is a long pending aspiration of the Garo people in the region, Marak remembered the sentient leaders who fought for Garoland when Meghalaya got its statehood in 1972. "We, the GSMC, need a true patriot from among the political leaders,” he asserted.
