Meghalaya: Three persons assaulted in Shillong, nine arrested

According to the Superintendent of Police (SP), East Khasi Hills District, S Nongtnger, some unknown miscreants in masks, numbering around 30 assaulted the three persons.

SHILLONG:

Three persons were "severely" assaulted by unknown miscreants at Nepali Graveyard, Mawbah in Shillong at about 5:30 pm on Wednesday. 

According to the Superintendent of Police (SP), East Khasi Hills District, S Nongtnger, some unknown miscreants in masks, numbering around 30 assaulted the three persons.

The trio sustained injuries and have been admitted to a hospital in Shillong.

The police rushed to the spot after the incident and an FIR was lodged at Lumdiengjri Police Station.

While the exact reason for the assault is yet to be ascertained, "Following a probe, police have arrested nine persons so far and further investigation is on to nab the other culprits," Nongtnger said.
