TURA:

The All Garo Hills SSA School Teachers’ Association (AGHSSASTA) has postponed their stir after the Meghalaya government assured to clear their pending salary.

The group of teachers had, on April 8, held twin protests in Shillong and Tura, demanding the release of their three-month salaries.

However, after receiving an assurance from the government that the issue would be sorted out at the earliest, the teachers decided to call off the stir.

“We have postponed our agitation after assurances. However, we have been pained by the government lying to us. If the situation is not sorted, we will resume our agitation after the GHADC elections on April 12,” AGHSSASTA president Levastone Momin said.

As per the teachers, the state government had released an order on March 31, which stated that two months’ salary of the teachers was deposited with the various district authorities.

However, the money is yet to be deposited with the various district authorities, they said.
