Meghalaya: Ri Bhoi sees rise in COVID cases; DC invokes spirit of voluntarism

The DC appealed to all the retired Doctors, Paramedics, Psychiatrists, Counsellors in the District to volunteer as Medical, Mental Health and Psycho-Social Care.

The Deputy Commissioner of Ri Bhoi District, RM Kurbah has invoked the spirit of voluntarism into our social spectrum for psycho-social care and medical-related support.

The same was initiated given the rise of COVID cases in the district. So far, the cumulative active tally now stands at 3726, of which 2121 are in East Khasi Hills and 502 in the Ri-Bhoi district. 

According to the notification issued by the DC, the stakeholders are requested to lend their advice during this pandemic for social awareness in following all necessary protocols to contain the spread of the Covid-19 virus.

The DC appealed to all the retired Doctors, Paramedics, Psychiatrists, Counsellors in the District to volunteer as Medical, Mental Health and Psycho-Social Care.

"The retired professionals will be available for the public in need through over the phone consultation process within a fixed timing Morning and Evening feasible to the concerned volunteer," she said. 

Any willing professionals for the said cause are requested to submit their information details to the office of the Deputy Commissioner by email to eocribhoi@gmail.com.     

VACCINATION

Since the vaccination drive for those 18 to 44 years citizen of the district will be commencing soon, it is informed that all those willing to get vaccinated shall register first on www.cowin.gov.in 

"There will be no spot registration and, prior booking is mandatory with only proper slot booking shall be vaccinated. Citizens must visit the website of www.cowin.gov.in to check the availability of slots in their respective locations/Districts; they may book the slots based on availability at the respective vaccination centres," Kurbah further said. 

Citizens are required to carry the relevant ID cards which were used for registration during vaccination.

"Beneficiaries on the Vaccination day have to share the "4 Digit Security Code " which they received on their registered mobile number post successful booking," the notification read.
