Meghalaya: Ri Bhoi Congress sends memorandum to CM; seeks support to weaker sections

The memorandum also read the RBDCC has demanded for special compensation for the Accredited Social Health Activist.

Members of the Ri Bhoi District Congress Committee held an urgent meeting on Wednesday to address several issues and a memorandum was also sent to the Meghalaya Chief Minister seeking his intervention in providing support to the weaker sections of the society.

The meeting of the RBDCC was attended by Congress MLA Mayral Born Syiem, Vice President and MLA George B Lyngdoh and two Congress MDC’s Charles Marngar and Balajied Rani among others.

In the memorandum, the RBDCC stressed on the lacuna found during the inspection to the Nongpoh Civil Hospital which is the main Corona Care Centre, where it was found that the hospital is running without proper ICU because of the absence of trained manpower and at present the hospital is running with only one appointed Anaesthetist, they also added that, the hospital is functioning without an ambulance with ventilator support.

The memorandum also read the RBDCC has demanded for special compensation for the Accredited Social Health Activist who has selflessly rendered their service in hand with the health department in which they had demanded to increase the honorarium as special compensation package of Rs 5000 per month during the entire pandemic period, they also appealed for compensation to weaker sections especially daily wage labourers, shopkeepers, street vendors, commercial taxi drivers and farmers.

The memorandum also quoted since the state government has debarred the restriction to implement the MGNREGA activities, the RBDCC has urged the state government to release the pending material liability to facilitate the livelihood activities at the village level.
