Meghalaya reports 321 new COVID-19 cases, five fatalities 

At least 154 people have recuperated from the infection since Sunday, increasing the total number of recoveries to 15,429, a senior official said.

The northeastern state of Meghalaya on Sunday registered 321 new COVID-19 cases, taking the total number of active cases to 1,821. 


Five more fatalities raised the toll to 179, health services director Aman Warr said.


At least 154 people have recuperated from the infection since Sunday, increasing the total number of recoveries to 15,429, a senior official said.


Out of the 321 new cases on Sunday, 212 are in East Khasi Hills, 41 in West Garo Hills, 20 in West Jaintia Hills, 15 in Ri Bhoi, 11 each in West Khasi Hills and East Jaintia Hills, four in North Garo Hills, three in South West Khasi Hills, two in South West Garo Hills and one each in East Garo Hills and South Garo Hills. 


As many as 4.61 lakh tests have been conducted so far.


According to Warr, a total of 2.89 lakh people have been inoculated in the state. 


At least 1.8 lakh have received both doses of the Covishield vaccine.
