Meghalaya registers three more COVID-19 fatalities, death toll at 32

Meghalaya registered three more COVID-related deaths on Thursday, taking the total number of fatalities to 32.

While addressing reporters, the Director of Health Services (MI), Dr. Aman Warr, informed that a 75-year-old woman from Barapathar was admitted at Bethany hospital on September 8 after she tested positive for COVID-19.

They referred the woman to Shillong Civil Hospital on Wednesday after her condition worsened and she passed away on the same day at around 9:25 pm.

Dr. Warr informed that the cause of death was COVID-19 pneumonia accompanied by acute respiratory syndrome, septic shock and comorbidities.

He informed that a 72-year-old male patient from Lumshyiap died on the way to Super Care Hospital on Wednesday. Test samples from the deceased later came out positive for COVID-19.

Meanwhile, a 60-year-old cancer patient from Mawbah passed away at NEIGRIHMS on Thursday after testing positive. The cause of death was respiratory failure, sepsis, COVID pneumonia and cancer.

The state also reported 161 fresh cases on Thursday, taking the total number of active cases to 1,983.

Besides this, 78 people have recovered and the total number of recoveries stands at 2,342.
