Meghalaya registers another COVID-19 death, active cases at 1,818
SHILLONG | SEPT 15, 2020:
Meghalaya registered another COVID-related death on Tuesday, taking the total number of fatalities to 29.
While addressing reporters, Director of Health Services (MI) Dr Aman Warr informed that 67-year-old Gopal Chandra Baghdas of Jhalupara died of COVID-19 at Shillong Civil Hospital on Tuesday around 3:35 pm.
Dr Warr informed that the deceased tested positive on September 12 and was treated at Shillong Civil Hospital.
He suffered from comorbidities such as Type-II Diabetes Mellitus and hypertension.
"The cause of death is severe acute respiratory distress syndrome attributed to COVID -19 pneumonia," Dr Warr said.
Meanwhile, the DHS (MI) informed that the state reported 172 fresh cases of COVID-19 on Tuesday, taking the total number of active cases to 1,818.
The addition of 39 new recoveries has also bumped up the total number of recoveries to 2,190.
