Meghalaya police seize bikes smuggled to Bangladesh, one arrested

Meghalaya police on Wednesday seized two bikes from Pynursla, East Khasi Hills, that were being smuggled to Bangladesh.

Based on specific inputs, the police team set up a Naka to apprehend the bike thieves, who were reportedly smuggling off bikes to Bangladesh.

Subsequently, at around 7:30 am, the police seized two bikes bearing registration number OD-04-E-9447 and ML-05-G-1066 from Wahkdait.

On seeing the police, the thieves fled to a nearby jungle.

According to sources, the police chased them and apprehended one person named Pynshai Rani, who also has a history of theft cases.

“Efforts are on to nab the rest of the culprits and their abettors,” police said.

Further investigation is ongoing.
