Meghalaya police seize huge cache of anti-aircraft ammunition from East Garo Hills
Meghalaya Police seized a huge cache of 239 rounds of anti-aircraft ammunition from Crimson M Sangma at Dobetkol in East Garo Hills on Thursday.
Police said they had been on the lookout for Sangma for several months and only managed to apprehend him by setting up a Naka check gate at the Dobetkolgre area near the district jail after receiving inputs about his whereabouts.
"The ammunition is suspected to be left over by late Sohan D Shira, the self-styled Commander in chief of the banned militant organisation GNLA," said a police official.
Meanwhile, the 33-year-old Crimson M Sangma (33), son of Zenith T Sangma of Nabokgre Songmong village, was taken to Williamnagar police station for further investigation.
