Meghalaya: Petrol tanker overturns near Nongpoh, locals loot fuel in buckets

According to sources, the incident took place in the afternoon when the driver identified as Dhurbo Jyoti Baruah of Bholaghat lost control over the oil tanker vehicle and overturned at the bank of the highway.

In an incident that occurred on Tuesday afternoon at the National Highway-6 at Mawtnum village near Nongpoh in Ri Bhoi District, people thronged themselves to collect fuel after an oil tanker overturned in the area.

According to sources, the incident took place in the afternoon when the driver identified as Dhurbo Jyoti Baruah of Bholaghat lost control over the oil tanker vehicle and overturned at the bank of the highway.

Witnessing the incident, local people of the area and other commuters immediately jumped to the spot to collect the oil spilled out of the tanker.

On receiving the information about the incident, Nongpoh Police traffic personnel rushed to the spot along with CRPF personnel accompanied by the Fire and Emergency Service personnel chased away the public and later the tanker was towed by the police.
