NONGPOH:

Nongpoh legislator Mayral Born Syiem has submitted a memorandum to Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma, seeking assistance from the government to uplift the health and infrastructure facilities in the area, in addition to helping the farmers.

In a memorandum, he mentioned that the district is one of the worst affected areas after East Khasi Hills, and urged the state government to come up with more community quarantine centres/isolation centres in the region.

Through the memorandum, the legislator has also sought financial support to the community corona care centres as manning these centres will require a lot of manpower and resources.

Syiem also sought government intervention in setting up a wholesale market in the area so that it can help the farmers from the region to sell their produce during the lockdown.

Syiem also pointed out that the Ri Bhoi district has been designated only one centre for vaccinating the 18-44 age group people.

The Nongpoh Civil Hospital is the only vaccination centre catering to the entire district.

Syiem has requested the government to identify more vaccination centres so that the slots can be provided to every individual who wants to get vaccinated.

The legislator has also asked the government to install an Oxygen Generator at Nongpoh Civil Hospital, which is one of the Corona Care Centres in the district.

He maintained that the generator at the hospital will immensely help the COVID patients in the district who need immediate oxygen support.
