Meghalaya: Media sensitisation programme on COVID-19 vaccine held in West Khasi Hills

The District Administration of West Khasi Hills, along with the District Medical & Health Officer, on Monday organised a Media sensitisation programme on COVID-19 Vaccination roll out at Conference Hall, DC Office Nongstoin.

The programme was organised to disseminate necessary awareness concerning various aspects associated with the COVID-19 pandemic and to eliminate several misconceptions that have been spread about the COVID-19 vaccine.

Addressing the gathering, Deputy Commissioner West Khasi Hills T. Lyngwa briefed about the Covishield Vaccine and its effectiveness by giving protection to the people.

Lyngwa said that the vaccine was manufactured by the scientist and doctors from India and he along with the doctors and staff had taken the vaccine and no symptom of side effects has occurred after being vaccinated.

While Dr R. Laloo, District Immunisation Officer, WKH said that in West Khasi Hills many people were not yet sure of the vaccine because of the fake and false information provided on social media.

Regarding the side effects, Dr R. Laloo explained that in any type of vaccination there is always a side effect like a high fever which is normal.

He called upon the people not to pay attention to the fake news that is circulated on social media, but they should trust the vaccine which could help them protect their health.
