Meghalaya: KSU organises protest rally to condemn murder of 25-year-old woman in West Khasi Hills

The Khasi Students’ Union (KSU) Lyngngam Hynnengbrei Area Unit organised a protest rally on Tuesday at Umdang village in West Khasi Hills to condemn the murder of a 25-year-old woman by her husband on March 1.

The rally was also attended by several villagers, students, NGOs, ASHA Workers Union to denounce the recent incident and demanded harsh punishment for the accused.

It may be mentioned that, on the night of March 1, a woman identified as Serilid Rongrin (25) of Umdang village in West Khasi Hills District, was found dead at her residence.

Police with the help of the family members arrested Arius Nianglang on March 2.

Meanwhile, the rally also condemned the recent rape incident in Shallang area where they also demanded justice for the minor girl rape victim.

NGOs and villagers appealed for stringent punishment against the accused of this heinous crime.
