Meghalaya Ichamati Clash: Another 8 persons arrested; total 70 charge-sheeted

The Crime Investigation Department (CID) of Meghalaya arrested another eight persons in connection with the Ichamati incident which took place on February 28 this year.

Assistant Inspector General (A), Gabriel Iangrai, in statement issued today, said that the officials of the Crime Investigation Department (CID) of Meghalaya who were conducting the investigation into the incident, have successfully arrested another 8 (Eight) accused persons adding that a total of 70 (Seventy) accused have been Charge-Sheeted under relevant sections of Indian Penal Code and Prevention of Damage to Public Property Act.

It be mentioned that KSU member, Lurshai Hynniewta of Sohra succumbed to his injury after he was critically injured a clash between the Khasi Students Union (KSU) activists and a group of non-indigenous people at Ichamati.

The police had arrested eight people immediately after this incident where several people were injured.
