SHILLONG: BJP MLA and Health and Family Welfare Minister, Alexander Laloo Hek said that he welcomes if the party project him as the Chief Ministerial candidate for the 2023 Assembly polls.

“The party had projected me as the Chief Minister candidate in the last election. I do not see any harm if they would project me as the CM,” Hek told reporters on December 16.

On his agreement with his party MLA Sanbor Shullai on the cabinet berth, he said that the agreement was arrived to allow to continue as the Minister for the full term following the meeting of the core committee of Laban and Pynthorumkhrah constituencies.

“We have also agreed that we will work together for the strengthening of the party,” Hek said.

Reiterating that there is no friction in the BJP, he said that the party leadership would continue to work to strengthen it as a team.

To a question, if the party is willing to rope in MLAs from other political parties including Congress ahead of 2023 Assembly polls, he said that the doors of the party are always open for the MLAs who are willing to join the party.
