SHILLONG:

Meghalaya Health Minister Alexander Laloo Hek has sought a report on the death of a nurse (Manisha Turnia) in Ganesh Das Hospital.

Hek was informed that she had asked to be relieved from COVID-19 duty.

“The government came out with an order that pregnant nurses can work from home but it is difficult for the nurses to work from home as most of their work relates to monitoring the patients’ health,” he said.

“As per knowledge, she was assigned non-COVID duty and no COVID duty was entrusted to her. It is not known how she was infected. I have sought a report on the incident,” he added.

Meanwhile, the Hynniewtrep Youth Council has petitioned the DHS (MI) Aman Warr urging him to conduct an enquiry into the death of the para-medical nurse at Ganesh Das hospital.
