Meghalaya Deputy CM Prestone Tynsong inaugurates facilitation centre in Ri Bhoi

Meghalaya Deputy Chief Minister Prestone Tynsong, on Monday, inaugurated the facilitation centre (entry-exit point) in Umling, Ri-Bhoi district.

“The facilitation centre was constructed at a total cost of Rs 2.70 crore,” Tynsong told reporters after the inauguration.

“We will be coming up with similar infrastructures at Rattacherra in Jaintia Hills and Bajengdoba in Garo Hills in the next few months,” he said.

Tynsong informed that the state government had already acquired land for the setting up of facilitation centres at Rattacherra and Bajengdoba.

“We have already set up a facilitation centre at Umroi Airport and (we) will inaugurate the facilitation centre at Mendipathar Railway station shortly,” he said.

“The infiltration checkpoint from Byrnihat will be shifted in this facilitation centre,” he added.

He also assured that the state government would ensure that the facilitation centres adhere to the Meghalaya Residents Safety and Security Act.

Others present during the inauguration included Community and Rural Development Minister Hamletson Dohling, Agriculture Minister Banteidor Lyngdoh, MLAs from several constituencies in Ri-Bhoi district and Ri-Bhoi Deputy Commissioner R.M Kurbah.

After the inauguration, Tynsong along with other ministers spoke with leaders of various NGOs from Ri-Bhoi district, who, in turn, lauded the efforts of the state government for finally inaugurating the much-anticipated facilitation centre.
