Meghalaya: CM inaugurates Mendipathar Facilitation Centre in North Garo Hills

Speaking at the inauguration, the Chief Minister said that the facilitation centre will keep a record of visitors to the region, enabling the district administration to effectively monitor the flow of guests from outside the region.

Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma inaugurated the Mendipathar Facilitation Centre at Mendipathar Railway Station in North Garo Hills on Wednesday.

Speaking at the inauguration, the Chief Minister said that the facilitation centre will keep a record of visitors to the region, enabling the district administration to effectively monitor the flow of guests from outside the region.

Sangma also said that the railhead in Mendipathar is a boon for the people of the region. "Railway connectivity has helped people from North Garo Hills to reach to Guwahati and other parts facilitating market accessibility," said Sangma, adding that it has proved to be beneficial, especially to the farmers of the region.

During his address, Sangma took the opportunity to inform the people that the state government is building a 100cr food park in Mendipathar. He further stressed that the biggest feed mill of Northeast is being set in the town because of rail connectivity.

Sangma concluded by saying that today, Mendipathar has become the preferred destination for investment because it has all the necessary infrastructure and facilities, particularly rail connectivity.
