Meghalaya CM holds COVID review meeting in West Garo Hills

During the meeting, officials of the Health Department also briefed the Chief Minister on the requirement of health infrastructure and manpower to deal with COVID management in the district.

Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma, on Friday, held a COVID review meeting with the officials of the West Garo Hills district administration and the Health Department at the Deputy Commissioner's office in Tura.

The departments discussed the surge of COVID-19 cases in the district, and the measures to contain them.

During the meeting, officials of the Health Department also briefed the Chief Minister on the requirement of health infrastructure and manpower to deal with COVID management in the district.

The CM informed that officials from the Directorate of Health will visit Garo Hills to assess the overall health infrastructure requirement, and ensure necessary support to deal with the COVID crisis.

It may be mentioned a total lockdown of 10 days has been imposed in West Garo Hills starting from May 21 to June 1.

In a parallel event on the same day, the Chief Minister visited the Holy Cross Hospital in Tura and reviewed the health infrastructure requirement at the campus.

He thanked the management and staff of the hospital for their support and dedication to deal with COVID management in West Garo Hills. 

The CM assured support to upgrade infrastructure facilities at the hospital including the requirement of oxygen.

During his visit to the hospital, he also handed an oxygen concentrator to the hospital.
