Meghalaya Budget session from March 5

The budget session of the Meghalaya State Assembly will begin from March 5 with the Governor’s address.

The budget session which will conclude on March 19 will have ten working days with six days allotted for government business and four days for private member’s business.

According to the calendar scheduled for the budget session, Governor Satya Pal Malik will address the House on the first day of the session while Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma who is also in charge of Finance will present the budget estimates of the State for 2021-2022 on March 10.

Besides the Governor’s address, the listed government business to be taken up on the first day of the session included laying of Ordinances, orders notifications, reports, rules and regulations, introduction of government bills and obituary references.

It may be mentioned that the calendar for the upcoming session was approved during a meeting of the Business Advisory Committee (BAC) chaired by the Assembly Speaker Metbah Lyngdoh on Tuesday.

The budget session is also likely to be stormy, with MLAs from the Opposition Congress is all set to corner the State Government over the illegal mining and transportation of coal among other issues.
