TURA:

The Bharatiya Janata Party MDC from Tura, Bernard Marak along with the party workers paid a visit to the Tura Civil Hospital to check on the preparedness of the State Government in tackling the second wave of COVID-19 on April 28.

The team inspected the oxygen stock and the Intensive Care Unit rooms in the Tura Civil Hospital and found them satisfactory after speaking with the superintendent of the TCH.

“With the rising cases of COVID in the region, the TCH needs to be in its best state as it acts as the last resort to the other four districts of Garo Hills,” said Bernard after the visit.

The team stated that the empty oxygen cylinders would be refilled next week while at present TCH has over 200 cylinders ready of the total of 444 cylinders.

“The ICU rooms are also ready and most of the medicines, sanitisers etc are all in stock. However, the Government needs to arrange quarantine centres other than the paid quarantine centres. PPE kits also need to be arranged in advance for those who are working in the frontline,” he asserted.

Further, the BJP felt that blood banks needed to be made ready with a good supply of blood through proper awareness.

“We want to assist in every way possible to provide support to tackle the rise of COVID cases in the state and will also monitor the supply of ration and other facilities provided by the Centre to the people,” he stated.
